A crown covers an entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. It protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.
There are many different types of crowns, however porcelain crowns are the most popular because they resemble your natural teeth.
Dr. Sicher will help you choose what type of crown is best for you. Here are the crowns we offer:
- Ceramic: Zirconia or e.max. The ceramic offered here is 4 to 10 times stronger than the veneer on porcelain-fused to metal crowns.
- Our e.max crowns are SAME DAY CROWNS using CEREC©. We use digital technology to produce the crowns while you take a short break. This means no temporary crown, and therefore no second appointment needed. Another wonderful benefit is that there is no need for an impression with the goopy material in your mouth. We use a small scanner that is well received by our patients.
- Porcelain-fused to metal are used less now, but do have special applications.
- Gold alloys
